Today Though Halloween may grab most of the holiday headlines this month, Dia de los Muertos is a major Mexican cultural event with a history dating back to Aztec times. Like Halloween, it's also a bit spooky. What is Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)? Mexico's Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), celebrated from October 31 - November 2, is a time for friends and family to remember and honor their deceased love ones, in part by visiting them at the cemetery.
